Elmsford, N.Y., Thursday, March 31, 2022 — Jonard Tools has just released the latest tool in the company’s popular MS product line (Mid Span Slit & Ring Tools), the MS-446, Mid Span Slit & Ring Tool (8.7 mm-14.6 mm).
The MS-446 is specifically designed to provide easy access to the interior optical fibers of AFL's Heavy Duty OSP MicroCore® (LMHD-Series) cables, and other thick-walled 8.7 to 14.6 mm diameter jackets.
Jonard Tools partnered with AFL to create this tool to specifically suit their new cable sizes. The MS-446 consists of four precision slitting grooves and four precision ring grooves. One side of the tool performs radial/ring cuts, while the other side slits the cable jacket open without damaging the fibers inside.

The blades inside the MS-446 will last for approximately 5,000 cuts and are replaceable. The replacement blade part number is MS-446RB.
